Malthe M. Hasselriis (1888-1970)was a Denmark-born American artist and self-taught miniaturist of remarkable talent. His clientele included figures such as Pearl Buck, Madame Chiang Kai-shek, and President John F. Kennedy. Beyond his mastery in miniatures, he showcased his artistic versatility as an illustrator, contributing watercolors to stories by Pearl Buck and editions of classic tales like The Ugly Duckling in 1932. His exceptional skill was recognized with the Levantia White Boardman Award for best miniature in 1948 and 1956.
