A totally fanciful seven-story tower offers an enormous variety of windows to open, as well as a lantern, a birdcage, a kite and the moon. Inside each are such evocative things as an owl, a lady holding a colorful dessert and a puppet play. In the cellar are mice, and in the belfry is an owl.
One of two calendars we are offering that we have imported from Germany, the birthplace of the advent calendar. The venerable firm that produces them has been doing so for more than sixty years. Each calendar features a Christmas scene and 24 windows for every day between December 1 and Christmas Eve. Behind each window is an image suggesting some aspect of Christmas. Part of the fun of an advent calendar is searching for the correct window for each day, as many of the numbers are delightfully difficult to find.
