William "Bill" Metcalf (1920–2005) was an American artist renowned for his exceptional pin-up, portrait, Americana, and landscape paintings. Despite lacking any formal artistic training, Metcalf embarked on his creative career while working in the art department of the United States Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving from 1940 to 1942. His artistic prowess became evident as he crafted exquisite pin-up artworks for Brown & Bigelow, where he served as the chief artist from 1947 to 1967. During his tenure, Metcalf was entrusted with the creation of all special-project calendar commissions for their most valued patrons. His pin-up art stands out for its distinct blend of glamour, impeccable detail, and a unique glow that set the standards for pin-up art of the era!
