Look closely at those waves; they're mermaids! This image comes from a vintage book illustration by an artist credited simply as Doco, circa the 1920s. Perhaps it's from an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid? If you're familiar with the original tale, you know that mermaids become seafoam when they die. However, as a greeting card, one can interpret it more lightheartedly, as they appear to be playing with the fish. It might simply depict a fun scene rather than conveying a moral message!
