Paul Allier (1883-1953) was a renowned French artist celebrated for his contributions to fashion and book illustration, pochairs, and still-life painting. Trained under Fernand Cormon at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Allier's career blossomed alongside contemporaries Georges Lepape and André Marty. Primarily active as a fashion illustrator, his work appeared in magazines like L’Assiette au Beurre, Femina, and Vogue. He also worked in book illustration and theatre design. His exceptional talent extended to creating hand-colored stencil prints, or pochoirs, characterized by their refinement and thematic richness. Published in collaboration with the Galerie Lutetia in Paris, these limited-edition pochoirs, such as The Harem series and The Seasons, were coveted by collectors for their individuality and artistic finesse, each bearing the artist's signature and a unique serial number.
