Description

An eerie dance brought to life by Arthur Rackham! This captivating scene, titled A Grand Pas de Deux, graced the pages of The Ingoldsby Legends, a collection of myths, legends, ghost stories, and poetry inspired by oral traditions. The tales were penned under the pseudonym Thomas Ingoldsby, concealing the true identity of the author, English clergyman Richard Harris Barham, who first published them in 1837. These stories gained popularity within Victorian and fin-de-siècle (end of the century) society. Rackham's hauntingly beautiful illustration in the 1898 and 1907 editions of this work is just one example of his masterful contributions to literature. See our entire Fantasy & Legend Collection!
