BLANK INSIDE

In 1899, Alphonse Mucha created the Primrose and Feather lithographic panels, inspired by a Brothers Grimm tale from 1807. The story revolves around two sisters, Feather and Primrose, who suffer from loss and grief. Feather rejects suitors and escapes to the forest, where she is transformed into a white swan by a sorcerer. Primrose embarks on a mission to save her sister, capturing the sorcerer disguised as a black swan. Here, Mucha's artwork captures the distant sensuality of Feather, symbolizing her unattainable nature. This image also appeared in posters for the J Royer printing company. Mucha (1860-1939) was a visionary artist whose artistry and creativity shaped the Art Nouveau movement! Born in 1860 in Moravia, now the Czech Republic, Mucha's artistic journey took him from a struggling artist to an internationally renowned master of his craft. With his distinctive style characterized by intricate patterns, flowing lines, and ethereal female figures, Mucha's art played a significant role in shaping the visual aesthetics of the late-19th and early-20th centuries.
