Two Babies Embracing - Friendship Greeting Card
INSIDE GREETING: To you dear friend - Love to the end.
Two incredibly cute babies drop their toys to share a hug on this friendship card! Torre Bevans drew them for the December 1920 cover of McCall's under some seasonal mistletoe. We removed that, so it's ready to send year-round. See our entire Friendship Card Collection!
Marjorie Torrey Chanslor (née Hood; 1888/1891-1964) was an accomplished American illustrator and children's book author who led a multifaceted career spanned literature and art. Under the pen name Torrey Chanslor, she authored mystery novels for adults and, as Torrey Bevans, published further works. Notably, her illustrations for children's picture books earned her recognition, making her a finalist for the American Library Association Caldecott Medal in 1946 and 1947. It can be difficult to follow her career due to the many variations of her name; as an illustrator, she sometimes signed her work as Torre Bevans, T.M., M.T. Bevans, plus a few more variants! She's a fascinating and elusive artist.
