A unique notebook that allows you to "travel" to the Arctic, play a historic game, and record all your adventurous thoughts! Created in collaboration with the New York Public Library (NYPL) for their 2024 exhibition "The Awe of the Arctic: A Visual History," this notebook features a cartographically themed board game produced by Marca Stella to celebrate the successful Amundsen-Ellsworth Transpolar Flight of the dirigible Norge, which achieved the first undisputed sighting of the North Pole on May 12, 1926. With the directions printed on the inside cover, it's a game you can play if you supply the dice! See our entire NYPL Collection!

The Italian Milan-based commercial publishing house, Marca Stella, specialized in creating colorfully printed products for children at the beginning of the 20th century. As the Norge was an Italian-made airship designed and piloted by the Italian Umberto Nobile, it was an outstanding national achievement and worthy of celebration in game form! An original version of this game now resides in the NYPL's Digital Galleries, specifically in the Lionel Pincus and Princess Firyal Map Division, one of the world's premier map collections in terms of size, scope, unique holdings, diversity, and intensity of use.
