Lady with a Raven - Encouragement Greeting Card
INSIDE GREETING: I wish you confidence in your abilities.
What do you think these two are talking about? To our eye, it's a pep talk of sorts! Harry Watrous painted it in 1913 and appropriately titled it The Chatterers. May we all have such good friendships, be they with ravens or women. See this image as an art print!
Henry Watrous (1857-1940) was a prominent American artist active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Renowned for his mastery of landscape painting, he skillfully captured the essence of nature, seamlessly blending realism and romanticism. His artistic journey unfolded against the backdrop of the Hudson River School movement, where he became associated with luminaries such as Thomas Cole and Frederic Edwin Church. Watrous' artistic oeuvre extends beyond landscapes to encompass portraits, still lifes, and genre scenes. His works are celebrated for their evocative use of light and meticulous attention to detail. Notably, he is perhaps best known for his enigmatic paintings featuring sophisticated women, often depicted in dark attire and seen in profile.
