Théophile Steinlen (1859–1923), a Swiss-born French artist, was a prominent figure in the bohemian and artistic circles of Paris during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for his exceptional skills as a painter, printmaker, and illustrator, Steinlen's work often captured the vibrant and diverse scenes of Montmartre, where he lived for much of his life. His iconic posters, including the renowned Le Chat Noir, became synonymous with the bohemian spirit of the era. Steinlen's deep connection to the Parisian streets and its inhabitants allowed him to create evocative and socially conscious art, portraying the daily lives of the working class, the nightlife of cabarets, and the charm of domestic scenes.
