It's accompanied by a story called Fun Under the Sea within Peg's Fairy Book (1944), which depicts all sorts of magical beings. See our entire Marvelous Mermaids Collection!

Peg Maltby (1899–1984) was an English-born Australian book illustrator and children's writer, and her enchanting works continue to capture the hearts of many. Initially working in England as an illustrator of chocolate box lids, she later moved to Melbourne, Australia after she married. There, she became a prominent member of the Victorian Artists' Society, showcasing her talents through successful watercolor exhibitions in the 1930s and 1940s. Her book, Peg's Fairy Book, published in 1944, quickly became a beloved classic in Australia. In the 1950s, alongside her husband, she established Santa's Workshop and a Fairyland Emporium in her studio at Olinda, Victoria. This whimsical destination featured captivating displays of paintings and dioramas inspired by her imaginative art. She is remembered in her adoptive country for her fantastical depictions of beloved flora, fauna, and the magical creatures among them.
