Helen Mary Jacobs (1888-1970) was a versatile artist renowned for her proficiency in draughtsmanship and watercolor painting. Her artistic journey commenced in the enchanting realm of fairy illustrations, marked by precision, energy, and imagination. While she garnered acclaim for these early works, she also demonstrated her adaptability by undertaking various commissions, including textbooks and primers—an endeavor well-suited to her, given her background as a primary teacher. Born in Ilford, Essex, she hailed from a notable literary family, with one of her siblings being W.W. Jacobs, the author of The Monkey's Paw!
