Hilda Cowham (1873–1964) was a pioneering British illustrator who made significant contributions to the field of humor and satire. She was one of the first women illustrators to publish in Punch, the notable British weekly magazine of humor and satire. Interestingly, Punch is credited with originating the modern concept of a "cartoon" as a humorous illustration, and Cowham's work in the magazine was a testament to her talent and wit. Additionally, in the period from 1924 to 1935, Cowham and her friend Mabel Lucie Attwell were employed by Shelley Potteries Ltd to provide illustrations for baby's plates and nurseryware, further showcasing her versatility and lasting impact on the world of art and illustration.
