Mother Mouse with Babies - Baby Greeting Card
INSIDE GREETING: Congratulations!
A sweet scene that makes for a heartwarming card for new parents! This illustration is originally from Beatrix Potter's, The Tale of Two Bad Mice (1904). Hunca Munca, the mouse mother, has "borrowed" furniture from a dollhouse to create a cozy and nurturing home for her babies. Unless you're a super fan, you may not know this book by its title, but this image has been enduringly popular and has even been adapted into a porcelain figurine!
Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist best known for her beloved children's books featuring animal characters, including the iconic The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902). Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to pioneer character merchandising, with Peter Rabbit becoming the first fictional character to be patented as a stuffed toy! Beyond her literary achievements, Potter's love for the natural world inspired her to acquire and preserve vast areas of the Lake District countryside, ensuring its protection for future generations.
