OUTSIDE GREETING: A Song of Joy for Your Birthday

BLANK INSIDE

This well-dressed bird choir undoubtedly can sing a beautiful tune! Harrison Cady drew them as characters in The Musical Triumph of Mr. Thaddeus Toad. In the 1920s, the Ladies' Home Journal would print a story and the corresponding paper dolls for readers to share with their children, and this was one such cut-out scene! Harrison Cady (1877-1970) was an American illustrator and children's book author best known for his Peter Rabbit comic strip, which he both wrote and drew for 28 years! Whimsical and expressive illustrations characterize his work. He gained widespread recognition for his long-running collaboration with author Thornton W. Burgess, creating vivid illustrations for numerous children's books featuring animal characters. His ability to breathe life into anthropomorphic animals and depict the beauty of the natural world resonated with generations of readers, making his illustrations an integral part of classic storytelling.
