INSIDE GREETING: Our friends teach us how to fly.
We all know the line from J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, "Second to the right, and straight on till morning," but this image comes from an educational retelling of the tale: Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and the Darling children take flight over London in Flora White's The Peter Pan ABC (1916), depicting "F" for Flight! Flora White (1878–1953) was a distinguished British artist renowned for her enchanting illustrations that captured the wonder of childhood. Specializing in nursery rhyme and fairy tale imagery, her prolific output as a postcard creator brought whimsical scenes to life with her distinctive kewpie doll-esque depictions of children. Her illustrations, characterized by their sweet, delicate, and magical essence, adorned numerous postcards and illustrated books of her era. Among her notable works is The Peter Pan ABC Book, published in 1916, where she beautifully illustrated an educational interpretation of J.M. Barrie's beloved tale.
