INSIDE GREETING: Happy Halloween

Which of these costumes wins the costume contest? Louise Clasper Rumely's lively and festive Halloween scene, gracing the cover of People's Home Journal in November 1924, captures the spirit of the season! This general-interest magazine, a staple from 1885 to 1929, brought engaging content and artistry to countless households. See this image as an art print!

Louise Clasper Rumely (1893–1979) is remembered for her charming baby paper dolls created during the early 1960s. Additionally, she left an indelible mark on the advertising world through her delightful cherub-filled illustrations featured in Swan Soap ads during the 1940s and 1950s. Her talent extended beyond her own creative endeavors, as she inspired and nurtured artistic talents in the next generation, including her daughter, Janet Sue Rumely, whose illustrations have also found their place in our illustration archives!
