A famous German chemist, Justus von Liebig invented a process that allowed the production of a meat extract in the form of a paste. An English firm started production of the meat extract in 1850 and named itself, Liebig’s Extract of Meat Company.

Around 1850, the company started to publish chromolithograph trade cards. These collectors’ cards were extremely popular, and by 1975 they had published more than 11,000 different sets of cards on an enormous variety of subjects. Sets had either 6 or 12 cards on a theme.

Custom printed at our location in Seattle, WA and packaged with envelopes in a deluxe, keepsake box.
