Spring Blossoms - Pin Up Girls Greeting Card
BLANK INSIDE
When William Metcalf draws a pretty girl, she can compete with a flowering tree! Like many of his pieces, this springtime cutie and her dog companion were created for a calendar. She was likely featured as a March girl, as that's when the blossoms are in full bloom here in Seattle! See this image as an art print!
William "Bill" Metcalf (1920–2005) was an American artist renowned for his exceptional pin-up, portrait, Americana, and landscape paintings. Despite lacking formal artistic training, he embarked on his creative career while working in the United States Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving art department from 1940 to 1942. His artistic prowess became evident as he crafted exquisite pin-up artworks for Brown & Bigelow, where he served as the chief artist from 1947 to 1967. He was entrusted with creating all the special-project calendar commissions for their most valued patrons during his tenure. Metcalf's pin-up art stands out for its distinct blend of glamour, impeccable detail, and a unique glow that sets the standards for pin-up art of the era!
