Harry B. Neilson (1861–1941) was a British illustrator renowned for his imaginative and playful depictions, primarily featured in children's books. His unconventional path led him from a career in engineering and electrician work for a Liverpool shipbuilder to becoming a prolific illustrator. Settling in England after a stint in British India, Neilson's distinctive illustrations showcased animals adorned in human attire engaging in various activities. His unique style, characterized by anthropomorphic animals in dynamic and often humorous scenarios, set his work apart from his contemporaries. Among his notable creations is the iconic Mr Fox's Hunt Breakfast on Xmas Day (1897), where he reversed traditional fox hunting roles. Neilson continued to explore this theme, notably in The Foxes' Frolic (1917), a work that gained renewed recognition with a 2009 republication!
