A lovely pastel garden scene with buzzing bees is a great greeting card for any occasion! We sourced this image from a 1907 Songbook titled Kling Klang Gloria Deutsche Volks und Kinderlieder (German Folk and Children's Songs), featuring music selected by W. Labler and illustrated by Heinrich Lefler and Josef Urban. Heinrich Lefler (1863-1919) and Joseph Urban (1872-1933) were Austrian illustrators and stage designers known for their collaborative and independent work. They were founding members of The Hagenbund, an Austrian artist group established in 1899 alongside the Vienna Secession, before eventually relocating to America. Lefler, primarily a painter, and Urban, an architect, were also brothers-in-law! Their illustrated collaborative pieces are often difficult to distinguish from their individual works, as they are commonly presented and credited together.
