Janet Susan Rumely (1925-2021) was an artist with a lifelong connection to the world of creativity. Born to John L. and Louise Clasper Rumely, she inherited a lineage famous for early farm equipment and her mother's own artistry, yet she carved her own path in the realm of art. Her journey began in 1939 when she enrolled in New York's High School of Music and Art. Her parents later relocated to Kerhonkson in upstate New York, where her mother continued to illustrate for various creative projects. She chose to stay in upstate New York, living for the rest of her life in the same farmhouse she moved into at the age of 19. Sue's art is distinguished by its distinct mid-century style, which has earned her a prominent place in our Christmas Collection. Her delightful winter and holiday images, featuring scenes of snow, animals, and stars, bring forth a sense of peace, companionship, and joy. Her art continues to be a beacon of warmth and nostalgia during the holiday season!
