Description

In The Artist’s Models (1930), a collection of dog portraits by Cecil Aldin, readers learn about his process. Owners left their dogs with him, allowing him to study them and create winning portraits reflecting their personalities. His excellence as a pet portraitist grew with Cracker, the bull terrier, and Mickey, the Irish Wolfhound, his favorites. It's told that Cracker would crack bones for Mickey, who, in turn, reached inaccessible items with his height. It's fun to meet these dogs across time! See this image on a greeting card!
