Will Rannells (1892-1982) made an enduring impact in the realm of art as both an illustrator and an educator. His illustrious career spanned several decades, during which he held the esteemed position of Professor of Commercial Art at Ohio State University for 35 years. Rannells' artistic journey took an intriguing turn when he transitioned from creating illustrations of beautiful girls to dogs, a decision that led to his first commercial success—a captivating portrait of a collie that had previously been in the arms of a girl. His exceptional talent for portraying dogs in heartwarming and playful scenes soon caught the attention of renowned publications like Judge, Life, and McCalls, where his delightful dog portraits adorned their covers for years!
