This tender illustration by Margaret Tarrant, featuring "Mary's little baby cradled in a stall," is a part of her extensive collection of scenes from Jesus' life and religious Christmas images, which were originally created to accompany a 1940 collection of holiday poems and stories. Later, these cherished illustrations found their way into other books, postcards, and calendars, and we're delighted to carry on this tradition with this holiday greeting card! Margaret Tarrant (1888-1959) was a distinguished English artist, nurtured in an artistic milieu as the daughter of Percy Tarrant. Her creative journey began with the illustration of Christmas cards, postcards, and calendars, setting the stage for her remarkable career. However, it was her enchanting book illustrations that truly catapulted her to fame. She's perhaps best known for her exquisite work on The Water Babies (1908), where her artistic prowess breathed life into the story's magical world. Her artistic legacy is defined by her unique ability to transport viewers to a world where fairies, fantasy, and the wonders of childhood reign supreme.
