Samuel Schmucker (1879-1921) was a highly accomplished American artist who enjoyed a diverse career, particularly during the Golden Age of postcards. After honing his skills under the guidance of the renowned Howard Pyle, he created iconic postcard archetypes of his time, such as the "Schmucker Girl," published by the Detroit Publishing Company, and the "Winsch Girl," published by the John Winsch Publishing Company. While his legacy is most prominently associated with postcards, a remarkable discovery in the mid-1990s thrilled his fans and admirers. It unveiled 88 previously unseen watercolor paintings, shedding new light on the depth and breadth of his artistic talent.
