Description

Dive into this anthropomorphic fantasy spa! These grooming and hygiene tools, enjoying a hot dip in the sink, are from the mind of Lowell Grant. As an artist who also worked in clay, his influence is evident in this drawing—it's one of our collection's most delightfully weird pieces! See this image on a greeting card!

Lowell Grant is a somewhat enigmatic artist with limited information about his life beyond his artistic endeavors. He is best known for his work on the Mr. Do & Don’t series of books authored by Virginia Parkinson in the 1940s. Credited as a "claytoonist" in these books, he created images to accompany the lessons using a unique blend of clay scenes and traditional drawings. Additionally, a Los Angeles sculptor named Lowell Grant is believed to be the same individual. Notably, he contributed sculptures to the Vincent Price movie Diary of a Madman (1963), wherein the protagonist (Price) is a sculptor.
