Georges François (1880-1968), known by his signature "Géo," was a French painter, draftsman, and graphic artist renowned for his landscape, genre scenes, and architectural motif paintings. Born in Saint-Gourgon, France, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Tours before furthering his education under Jean-Paul Laurens in Paris. He traveled and exhibited widely, showcasing his work at prestigious venues such as the Salon d'Hiver, the Salon de la Marine, and the Salon des Artistes Française from 1910 onwards. He continued to exhibit at the Salon des Indépendants from 1921 to 1958. Primarily recognized as a graphic designer, François also crafted posters, stamps, and wall decorations. His diverse repertoire encompassed landscapes, genre scenes, and architectural motifs, reflecting his versatile talent and keen eye for visual storytelling.
