INSIDE GREETING: Happy birthday to that rare, one-of-a-kind you.

You don't have to be an artist to appreciate how difficult it must be to depict a bubble! This young girl blowing a bubble was created by Bessie Pease Gutmann, an artist known for her talent in realism. We've adapted it into a really fun birthday card on which the bubble will never pop! Bessie Pease Gutmann (1876–1960) was a celebrated American artist and illustrator renowned for her tender portrayals of infants and young children. Emerging as one of the preeminent illustrators of the early 1900s in the United States, her enchanting artwork graced the covers of 22 magazines between 1906 and 1920. Her artistic talent shone brightly in her illustrations for beloved children's books, most notably in the 1907 edition of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. After formally studying art, she initially embarked on a career as an independent commercial artist; she later found success with the publishing firm Gutmann & Gutmann, where she illustrated various children's books and created captivating artwork for postcards and calendars. Married the company's co-owner, Hellmuth Gutmann, in 1906, she found inspiration for her illustrations in her growing family, often using their three children as models. Some of her most popular art was reproduced on fine porcelain plates and figurines!
