Renowned for his mastery of gouache, watercolor, and pen and ink, his work graced the pages of numerous books and magazines and was celebrated for his diverse illustrations, ranging from classical works by Homer and Rabelais to modern novels by James Branch Cabell and Anatole France. His collaborations with Cabell, in particular, garnered widespread acclaim, with his lush illustrations adorning the pages of esteemed literary works like Jurgen: A Comedy of Justice (1919).
