Benjamin Rabier (1864-1939) was a prominent French illustrator, cartoonist, and animation pioneer, revered as one of the masters of early French comics. Born in La Roche-sur-Yon, France, he started his professional life as an accountant but pivoted to a life of art. He gained widespread acclaim for his influential contributions to children's literature and comic art, notably for his iconic logo creation, "La Vache Qui Rit" (The Laughing Cow), which can still be found in the dairy departments of grocery stores today. Additionally, he pioneered the field of animation and is renowned for his groundbreaking work in this medium. His most notable achievement during his life was the character Gédéon, a beloved goose whose adventures he illustrated in 16 books. His joyful animal illustrations are his legacy!
