Douglas Tempest (1887–1954), though not a household name, was a postcard artist extraordinaire! Born in Norfolk, he always signed his work simply as "D. Tempest." The majority of his career was spent with the postcard manufacturer Bamforth & Co. During the tumultuous times of World War I, his creative genius shone in the form of popular anti-Kaiser cartoons and designs depicting life on the wartime home front. His exceptional popularity led to the hiring of two artists to work under him, tasked with emulating his distinctive style. Tempest's postcards captured the essence of an age when snail mail conveyed love, greetings, and nostalgia, and today, they stand as cherished collectibles that transport us to a bygone era of postcard artistry.
Our line of Fan Favorite Notebooks features rounded edges and a sewn binding. The back covers contain helpful information in a vintage style, including the multiplication table and various measurement tables.
