Ellen Clapsaddle (1865-1934) was an American artist who was celebrated for her immense impact on vintage postcard illustration. With a staggering portfolio of over 3,000 designs in the souvenir postcard field, she played a pivotal role in the Golden Age of Postcards (1890s through World War I), during which hundreds of millions of postcards were printed, imported, sold, and mailed. Clapsaddle's artistry is beautifully preserved in these cherished nostalgic pieces, often featuring children, floral arrangements, and holiday themes.
