Mickey, the Wolfhound - Delightful Dogs Greeting Card
BLANK INSIDE
Mickey, the wolfhound, was a favorite dog of the wonderful animal illusrator, Cecil Aldin (1870-1935). Aldin made many paintings and drawings of Mickey, who was one of the dogs who spent their days in his studio, and whom he referred to as his ‘board of directors.’
Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) was a prolific English artist and illustrator. While living in London, he became friends with the Beggarstaff Brothers (William Nicholson and James Pryde), with John Hassall, Phil May and Dudley Hardy, and their influence on his work was great. Aldin, however, developed his own style and was particularly skillful at conveying the humor, love and antics of the dogs and other animal friends.
