Snuggling With Mama - Mother's Day Greeting Card
This versatile greeting card is part of our Mother's Day collection, but with its blank interior, it will work perfectly for Mom on any occasion! Florence Harrison created this tender watercolor of a child asleep on their mother's lap. It's from The Fairy Ring (1908), a captivating collection of original fairy poetry written and beautifully illustrated by Harrison. This particular image is matched with a poem that tells us "Then hush-a-bye, sweet, to the spell and song of the Dream Shell." See this image as an art print!
Harrison (1877-1955), an English Australian artist, left an indelible impression on the world of illustration with her captivating and fantastical artwork for children. Combining Pre-Raphaelite influences with the techniques of fin-de-siècle (turn of the century) poster artists, she crafted a unique style that was truly her own. Her Golden Age illustrations encompassed a wide range, from bringing her own poetry for children to life to adorning the pages of Romantic literary works by renowned authors such as Christina Rossetti, William Morris, and Sir Alfred Tennyson. Among her remarkable creations, the 1912 book Elfin Song stands as one of her most celebrated works.
