Muriel Dawson (1897-1974) was a New Zealand-born illustrator of Scottish descent. After relocating to the UK in 1913, she honed her skills at the Richmond School of Art and the Royal College, establishing herself as an illustrator in the early 1920s. Her love for rural life led her to reside in Sussex and Dartmoor before returning to her Scottish roots in the Shetland Islands, where she spent her final years. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, her illustrations graced the pages of countless publications, including the covers of the weekly magazine Woman's Pictorial from the 1920s to the 1940s. Known for her beautifully observed and affectionate depictions of children and the nature she loved, her work remains a colorful and enduring legacy.
