Woman with a Dustpan - Books & Readers Greeting Card
INSIDE GREETING: ...that you hold in your hands. (—Neil Gaiman)
In a detailed and charming illustration characteristic of early 1900s magazine art, a woman pauses mid-sweep, her broom momentarily forgotten. Her pretty dress and matching cap speak to the domestic ideals of the era, while her deep engagement with her book reveals a moment of quiet contemplation. Seated on the floor, she has stolen away with an open book, her expression one of complete absorption. The carefully rendered details capture a nuanced portrait of a woman finding solace and escape in literature, even amid her daily household duties.
